Finally—Real Reviews of Local Ballet Programs

Until now, if you wanted to get a sense of the ballet training available in your local area, your best bet was to ask around. Maybe post in a Facebook group. Maybe text a friend-of-a-friend. Hope that the reviews from ten years ago on Yelp are actually real? But real, detailed insight into what a ballet program is actually like? That didn’t exist. Until now.

We’re excited to share that Ballet Help Desk is expanding! In addition to anonymous reviews of year-round, full-time ballet training programs, we’re now inviting families to review local after-school ballet programs.

Why This Matters
Most dancers spend years training at their local studio before ever considering a full-time program. And yet, there hasn’t been an easy way to compare programs or understand which schools provide strong technical foundations and real preparation for a future in ballet. That’s the gap we’re filling.

Our updated review platform will allow you to:

  • See whether or not a school does competitions
  • Understand the performance opportunities
  • Learn if the school allows its students to attend summer intensives
  • Understand how local schools structure their training and support student goals
  • Get real information on what percentage of students go onto full-time training, attend college ballet programs or move directly into a company.
  • Understand overall school culture

We’re building the first international directory of local ballet schools informed by the people who know them best: the dancers and families who train there. Think of it as a way to pay it forward to the next generation of dance families.

Like with our full-time reviews, once we have enough collected to ensure completeness, we’ll publish them in our new display format. This will include exciting new features that allow you to see ballet programs in your immediate area without wading through meaningless search results. But, we can’t do this without you.
